Cut your biggest hidden energy bill

Heating water quietly eats 15–30% of a typical home’s energy use often more than heating or cooling. An efficient Heat Pump Installation Victoria and hot water system slashes that, and when it runs on your daytime solar, your hot water costs drop close to nothing. SolarAide installs heat pump and solar hot water systems that get far more value from the panels already on your roof.

It’s also one of the fastest ways to start getting off gas a heat pump replaces a gas or old electric tank and runs on clean, cheap electricity instead.

Rebate available: eligible Victorian homes can receive up to $1,400 towards a heat pump or solar hot water system (or $1,000 for other eligible products). SolarAide handles the paperwork for you.

Why switch with SolarAide

Runs on your solar

A built-in timer runs the system during the day on your own solar, so your hot water costs almost nothing.

Big efficiency gain

A heat pump uses a fraction of the energy of an old electric or gas tank for the same hot water.

Rebate handled

We check your eligibility and manage the Solar Homes hot water rebate paperwork end to end.

Quiet & compact

Modern units are small and low-noise, and we remove your old tank as part of the install.

How a heat pump hot water system works

A heat pump works like a fridge in reverse it pulls warmth from the surrounding air and uses it to heat your water, rather than burning gas or running a power-hungry element. That makes it roughly three to four times more efficient than a conventional electric tank. Pair it with a timer that runs during daylight hours, and it heats your water using the surplus solar you’d otherwise export for a few cents.

Is it right for your home?

A heat pump makes the most sense if you’re on gas hot water facing rising bills, you have (or are getting) solar, or your old electric or gas tank is nearing end-of-life. From 1 March 2027, Victorian homes replacing a gas hot water system at end-of-life must move to an efficient electric alternative like a heat pump so switching now gets you ahead of the change and the rebate while it’s available.

Locally made bonus: choosing an eligible locally made system can lift your rebate to the higher $1,400 tier. We’ll point you to qualifying products.

Frequently asked questions

How much can a heat pump save me?

Because heating water is such a big share of home energy use, moving off gas or an old electric tank to an efficient heat pump — especially one timed to run on your solar — is one of the biggest single cuts you can make to a power or gas bill.

Does it really run on my solar?

Yes. We set a timer so the system heats during daylight hours, using the surplus solar you’d otherwise export. That’s the cheapest energy your home produces.

How much is the hot water rebate?

Up to $1,400 for eligible locally made heat pump or solar hot water products, or $1,000 for other eligible products — a 50% rebate on the purchase price after other discounts. We handle the paperwork. See our hot water rebate page for full detail.

My hot water just died — can you install quickly?

Yes. For emergency replacements you don’t have to wait for rebate approval before installing — we can get you hot water fast and apply for the rebate afterwards, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

Is a heat pump noisy?

Modern units are quiet and compact. We’ll advise on the best position during the site visit so noise and airflow are both handled well.
